Seasons of Ohara
Kyoto's mountain village, here in Ohara, still retains the beauty of Japan's four seasons.
Receiving the blessing of nature, it has been a century since we have devoted ourselves to making Shibazuke,
which has been handed down from our ancestors for more than 800 years.
Our company was founded in Ohara, a quiet town in the outskirts of Kyoto.
In the past, Ohara flourished as a relay point on the Wakasa-Kaido Road which connected Heian-kyo (the ancient capital of Japan) and Wakasa Bay.
It is located at the foot of Mt. Hiei where the Enryaku-ji temple founded by Saicho stands.
Many Tendai sect temples, including the famous Sanzen-in temple, stand side by side in Ohara. Ohara has its name engraved in history as a place of Buddhist
priests and students.
